Story #10: Parvathi's doubt...

We will see one of my favorite story from Sri Rama Charitra Manas. This story has answer to a question that most of us may have.

Once upon a time Lord Shiva went to great Rishi Agastya  along with his wife Uma. The great  sage narrated the whole Tatva of Lord Sri Rama to the divine couple. Lord Shiva wanted to see his most dear Lord Rama, but Uma was still in dilemma.

She was still confused as how Rama, just a prince, was him self  Lord Mahavishnu. If it is true that he is only Mahavishnu, then why is he not able to find where his wife is and go there immediately and rescue her. Lord Shiva tired his best to convince her, but she did not agree to the versions of Lord Shiva.

So, Lord Shiva and Uma left the Ashram and flew in the sky, to the place in the forest where Rama was weeping and searching for Seetha. Seeing his dear Lord Rama, Lord Shiva  was overwhelmed with love and affection. Devi Uma saw  Lord Shiva, thrilled with love and became doubtful as to why Lord Shiva was enchanted by a mere human prince as Lord Rama. Lord Shiva also tried to convince Maa Uma that it was still a Lila of Lord Ram for his Bhaktas. It was for upgrading of Vedic culture and to teach the human race how a regular life should be.

However Umadevi was still doubtful. She went to the place where divine Lila of Lord Ram was going on.  To check the divinity of Lord Rama, Uma assumed the form of  Sita and approached Lord Ram there in forest.

In an instant,  Lord Rama recognized the trick of Maa Uma. He asked with a smile on face as where was Lord Bhishbhanu (another name of Lord Shiva) and why was she roaming alone in the forest.  At this point, Lord Ram showed some of his divine miracle.

Uma saw that Rama with Mata Sita and Lakshman were still standing beside Maa Uma. Again she saw that Lord Ram in Vishnu form lying in sheshnaag in Ksheerasaagar, and was being prayed by gods and goddesses.

Uma became sad and regretted doubting Shiva. Wherever she looked, she found Lord  Rama and various deities and all creation in him. In awe, she closed her eyes and when she again opened her eyes, everything vanished. She regretted for such acts before Lord Sri Ram. She then went to Lord Shiva with full satisfaction.

The God puts himself and others in trouble sometimes, only was lokha kshemam.  Full belief in his power and benevolence will bring in miracles to our lives

Jai Sri Ram
